Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response makes an attempt to address the prompt by reporting some figures from the two charts, but it only partially covers the data. While the introduction outlines the general topic, the overview is repetitive and lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the main trends. Furthermore, the selection of data is limited, and some details are misunderstood or inaccurately expressed, such as referring to the vertical axis of the second chart as the percentage of houses used electricity per week rather than hours of housework. Ideas are under-developed, and important comparative features between appliance ownership and housework hours are largely missed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into paragraphs, but the overall progression lacks clarity and logical flow. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the abrupt transitions using 'While,' and 'Moreover,' which often disrupt sentence structure rather than connect ideas smoothly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the separation of ideas into paragraphs does not fully reflect a logical grouping of information. The mechanical use of linking words and frequent punctuation issues also hinder the reading experience.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and basic, resulting in frequent lexical inaccuracies. Words and terms are often misused or poorly formed, such as 'apliances' instead of appliances, 'vaccum' instead of vacuum, and 'useage' instead of usage. The student attempts to use less common vocabulary like 'stable' and 'decline,' but collocation and word choice issues are apparent throughout the text, such as 'the refrigerator was the lowest use of households' and 'its usage go rise.' These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted lexical range appropriate for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammatical range is quite limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures, while attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are numerous errors in grammar, verb forms, and articles throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'The given graphs gives' and incorrect tense usage or missing auxiliary verbs such as 'Its usage go rise' and 'remain stableat at'. Prepositional and structural errors also persist, such as 'in 1920 was at higher percentage about 50%'. These frequent errors create noticeable difficulty for the reader.
