Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both charts and making relevant comparisons throughout. You provide a clear overview at the beginning, noting the general trends in appliance ownership and housework hours. The specific details, such as refrigerator ownership reaching one hundred percent by 1980 and the weekly housework hours dropping from fifty to around eleven, are accurately cited from the data. The information is extended and supported well, aligning comfortably with the requirements for a solid performance at this level, though a tendency to slightly over-generalise or repeat certain data points keeps it from reaching higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
There is a coherent overall arrangement to your writing, with a clear attempt to logically sequence information by grouping the appliances and the housework hours into separate paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Moreover', and 'However' to guide the reader through the data. However, progression is sometimes hindered by mechanical referencing and awkward transitions between sentences, such as starting paragraphs with abrupt phrasing like 'During this period'. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be smoother and less repetitive to achieve a higher standard of logical flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary provides an adequate range for the task, allowing you to successfully describe trends using words like 'surges', 'gradual increase', and 'stable'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as 'housechores' instead of 'housework', 'vaccum clearner' instead of 'vacuum cleaner', and 'wwith' or 'onwership'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they demonstrate limited control over less common lexical items and spelling accuracy, which restricts your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures like 'While the number of hours... decline over till 1980'. However, your writing contains frequent errors in grammar, articles, and prepositions, such as 'The both line graphs illustrates' (agreement error and unnecessary article), 'remain stable tiill 2000 and then showing' (tense inconsistency), and missing articles before nouns. These errors require some effort to decipher and mean that error-free sentences are not frequent enough to push the response into higher grammar bands.
