Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally, as the text trails off abruptly mid-sentence and is also under the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, finishing at 145 words. While the student attempts to report some features from both charts, the coverage is incomplete and selection is inadequate. The overview attempts to capture main trends, such as the decline in housework hours, but contains inaccurate and confused details about appliance ownership, such as stating that washing machines were the least. Furthermore, the abrupt ending prevents any full development of the data, leaving parts of the visual information unreported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The information and ideas are not arranged coherently overall. While the writer attempts a standard paragraph structure with an introduction and an overview, the logical progression breaks down due to missing transitions and the unfinished nature of the text. Paragraphing is faulty, with the third paragraph beginning abruptly in lowercase and trailing off entirely with the phrase 'Meanwhile, the work of vacuum cleaner'. Cohesive devices are used very mechanically or are absent altogether, making the relationships between data points difficult to follow, and referencing is frequently unclear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, struggling with accurate lexical control. There are numerous word choice, collocation, and word form errors throughout the text, such as 'illustare' instead of illustrate, 'home equipments' instead of household appliances, and 'homework' instead of housework. Other phrases like 'majority of proportion of houlshold in refrigerator' and 'pick high point' show limited control of vocabulary and awkward phrasing. Spelling errors ('incresed') and inappropriate word choices impede communication in several places, restricting the response to a lower band for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence forms with frequent attempts at complex structures that are faulty. There are persistent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'how much of time used in homework in home in one nations', 'washing machines was used in 40%', and 'refrigerator used in 1920 0%'. Punctuation and article usage are also weak, with missing capitalization at the start of sentences and frequent omission of necessary auxiliary verbs and prepositions. These frequent errors cause difficulty for the reader throughout.
