Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover both charts and provide a clear overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework hours fell. You also select useful comparisons, including refrigerators reaching 100% by 1980 and washing-machine ownership dipping before rising again. This meets the task well, with some of the detail needed for a stronger overview already present. However, the overview is not fully accurate: refrigerators and vacuum cleaners did not both show the highest percentage throughout, since refrigerators began at about 2% and washing machines were higher in 1920. Some figures are also imprecise: washing machines were about 65% in 1980, and housework fell to about 11 hours in 2019. Clarify the overall ranking and report these details more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the appliance trends and housework hours. The sequence generally follows the years, and linking expressions such as “However” and “While” help signal contrasts. This gives the report an overall coherent arrangement. Cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear, though. For example, “As similarly” and “While on the other hand” combine linking expressions awkwardly, while “It is first glance” does not clearly introduce the next point. The final paragraph also moves between vacuum cleaners and housework without a clean transition. Use simpler, accurate connectors and group related trends consistently so the reader can follow comparisons more easily.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ownership,” “percentage,” “downward trend,” and “increased,” so the main information is usually understandable. There is also an attempt to vary language with terms such as “drastically” and “declined.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural: “started business” does not describe a chart trend, “reached on” is not the right pattern, and “stabled” is not the appropriate verb. Spelling errors such as “elecrtrical,” “vaccum,” and “decresed” are noticeable, and repeated use of “rose” and “reached” limits precision. Choose standard trend language and check spelling carefully to make the report more fluent and exact.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses linked with “which” and “after that,” and the reader can generally understand the main trends. However, control is uneven, and several sentence patterns contain errors. The opening says “The bar charts illustrates,” where the subject and verb do not agree; “the washing machine accounted the lowest trend” also lacks a grammatical construction. In “it decreased around 62%,” the intended meaning needs a clearer form, such as “it fell to around 65%.” Commas and spacing are inconsistent, and some sentences run together, particularly in the vacuum-cleaner paragraph. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and punctuation while keeping complex sentences manageable.
