The graph provides the information about modifications in the ownership of electrical equipment and the duration of time taken during housework in homes between 1920 to 2019 in a country.

Overall, ownership ratio of refrigerator is seen considerably rising and number of hours per week is noted declining throughout the time period.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: refrigerator ownership rises markedly, while weekly housework time declines. You also compare the appliances and mention the washing-machine dip, so the response addresses the chart’s key subjects. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. The statement that refrigerator ownership was “almost 50% in 1940” understates the chart’s roughly 55%, and saying vacuum-cleaner ownership was “more than 50%” in that year is also inaccurate; it is about 50%. The overview would be stronger if it noted that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached 100%, while washing machines remained lower and fluctuated. The housework trend is reported only generally, without key figures such as the fall from 50 to about 11 hours.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph of supporting details. The sequence from early appliance ownership to later years is broadly logical, and phrases such as “on the other hand” help signal a comparison. However, the final paragraph combines several appliance trends and the housework trend in a long, crowded sequence, making comparisons harder to follow. Some links are also imprecise: “By 1920” does not fit the subsequent rise to 1940, and “shows similarity in ratio” leaves the comparison unclear. Use separate, clearly organised sentences for the appliance trends and housework figures, with accurate time references and explicit comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “ownership,” “percentage,” “decline,” “peak,” and “popularity,” and the meaning is generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “throughout the time period.” Some choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing chart data: “ownership ratio” would be better expressed as “proportion of households,” while “contribute 40%” does not naturally describe appliance ownership. “Shows similarity in ratio” is vague, and “modifications in the ownership” suggests changes to ownership rather than changes in its level. Aim for precise collocations such as “the proportion owning,” “rose to,” “remained stable,” and “fell slightly”; this will make the comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, some errors in tense, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “which remain same” needs “which remained the same,” and “Vacuum cleaner also show similarity” needs a plural subject or an article and a correctly inflected verb. The phrase “in 1960 it shown increment” has an incorrect verb form, while “between 1920 to 2019” uses an incorrect preposition pattern. Several clauses are joined into long sentences, which increases the risk of errors. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons in shorter sentences, while retaining a mix of simple and complex structures.
