The line graph illustrates the percentage of households with electrical appliances in a country between [redacted phone].

Overall, refigerator increased dramatically over the period and eventually exceeded other appliances, while washing mashine rose gradually at a much slower rate. By the end of period, the gap between washing mashine and vacuum cleaner had widened clearly.

In 1920, refigerator stood at 0%, then increased significantly to reach 100% in 1980 and remained stable until 2019. Moreover, vacuum cleaner stayed at 30% in 1920, whereas it rose through the period and reached 100% in 2000. Furthurmore, this growth continued at a slower pace compared to refrigerator.

In contrast, washing machine was at 40% in 1920, while it climbed to 70% in 1960

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the broad upward trends in appliance ownership and notes that refrigerators reached full ownership, but it does not provide a complete summary of the charts. The overview says the gap between washing machines and vacuum cleaners widened, whereas the figures show it narrowed by 2019: vacuum cleaners reached 100% and washing machines about 75%. The housework-hours chart is omitted entirely, and the washing-machine account stops after 1960, leaving its later dip and recovery unreported. Some figures are also inaccurate: refrigerators were about 2%, not 0%, in 1920, and reached 100% in 1980, not merely “until 2019” without clarifying the plateau. The response is also 31 words below the required minimum. Include both charts, a precise overview, and key comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing appliance trends. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “In contrast” help signal relationships between points. However, progression is incomplete because the final paragraph breaks off after the washing-machine figure for 1960, and the housework data is not integrated at all. Some connections are also unclear: “Furthermore, this growth continued at a slower pace compared to refrigerator” does not make clear which trend or period is being compared. Organise the details into complete comparisons, for example grouping appliance ownership in one paragraph and housework hours in another, and ensure each paragraph develops its point to a clear conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a suitable range of trend vocabulary, including “increased dramatically,” “remained stable,” “rose gradually,” and “climbed.” These choices generally communicate the direction of change. However, several spelling errors—“refigerator,” “mashine,” and “Furthurmore”—reduce accuracy, and “the gap … had widened clearly” is an imprecise description of the data. The phrase “growth continued at a slower pace compared to refrigerator” is also awkward and does not identify the comparison clearly. Aim for accurate spelling and more precise collocations when describing figures and trends. For example, use “refrigerator ownership” rather than treating the appliance itself as the thing that increased, and specify the years when describing a plateau or change.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause in “In 1920, … whereas it rose through the period” and a sentence beginning “while it climbed.” Most sentences are understandable, and the main trends can be followed. Some grammatical choices are less controlled: “between 1920-2019” should be “between 1920 and 2019,” and “By the end of period” needs an article (“the period”). In “refrigerator increased dramatically,” the subject is not expressed accurately as a measure of ownership; a construction such as “ownership of refrigerators increased” would be clearer. The final sentence is incomplete, ending after “in 1960,” which leaves the clause unfinished. Check articles and prepositions, and proofread for complete sentences.
