Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and provide an overview, identifying the broad rise in appliance ownership and the decline in housework time. Several key figures are reported accurately, including refrigerators rising from about 1% to 100% and vacuum cleaners from 30% to 100%. The washing-machine sequence is also mostly clear, though the final figure is given as 71% rather than approximately 75%. The main weakness is the housework description: it is expressed as a “proportion” and “50%” rather than hours, and the endpoint is stated as 10 instead of about 11 hours. The overview also says the decline occurred “in recent years,” although it spans the whole period. More precise units and a clearer account of the overall patterns would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information, and transitions such as “Overall,” “In term of electrical appliances,” and “Regarding” help signal topic changes. However, some linking is mechanical or confusing. “Whereas” begins a fragment in the overview, while repeated “where” clauses make the washing-machine sequence difficult to follow. The final paragraph is very brief compared with the appliance discussion, so the two charts are not balanced. Grouping the appliance trends more clearly and using complete, direct comparisons would make progression smoother and cohesion less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “upward trend,” “decline,” “ownership,” and “reaching,” and the reader can generally identify the trends you intend to describe. However, inaccurate word forms and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less precise: “owners for electrical appliances,” “washing maching owners propotion,” and “the ratio of number of hour” are not natural ways to describe the data. “Housework” is also measured in hours, not as a proportion. Spelling errors such as “maching” and “propotion” further reduce control. Aim for a smaller set of accurate expressions—such as “the percentage of households owning…” and “hours spent on housework”—rather than repeatedly forcing less natural phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the sequence beginning “Washing machine household rate…” and the clause “after which it experienced a gradual decline.” However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. For example, “The following charts illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “refrigerator owners has changed” uses incorrect agreement and an unsuitable construction. In “has been also went up,” the verb pattern is faulty; “whereas” also introduces an incomplete contrast in the overview. There are some understandable sentences, but control is not consistent. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and straightforward comparative sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
