Student answer (Band 5.0)
The graph illustrates the difference between how the use of electrical appliances 1920s to 2019 they majorly discuss the three appliances it includes washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner.
First we see the washing machine graph line in 1920s they have only 40% of households having appliance and in 2019 its percentage growing to reached the 75% we can say that its growing by the passage of time. While on the second no we see refrigerator in 1920s having 0% people use the appliance while in 2019 it is growing in number it reached to 100%. Refrigerator having one of the top appliance that increase. From my perspective in ancient like 1920 people having other source of storing things that why they donot use refrigerator and the main reason refrigerator donot exist that why their percentage tends to b 0 in 19s. While on the third one we see vacuum cleaner in 1920s their using percentage is 30% same as refrigerator its gradually increase with the passage of time and till reach 100%.
In second chart we see number of hours per week in 1920s people do manual work more thats why its percentage is about to 50% as campared to 2019 new technology and automatic appliances exists thay why its percentage tends to be 10%.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the three appliances and the broad contrast with housework time, and several figures are close to the chart: washing machines rise from 40% to 75%, vacuum cleaners from 30% to 100%, and weekly housework falls from about 50 to 11 hours. However, the response does not give a clear overview of the main patterns, and some important details are missing, such as refrigerators reaching 100% by 1980 and then remaining there. The claim that refrigerator ownership was 0% in 1920 is inaccurate; it was about 2%. The explanation about why refrigerators were not used is speculative and not required by the chart. Report the trends and key comparisons objectively, including the washing-machine dip around 1980.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: it discusses the appliances and then turns to housework, with paragraphing that separates these topics. Linking expressions such as “While” and “In second chart” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within the first paragraph is difficult to follow because several points run together, and the repeated “we see” structure makes the account feel list-like. References such as “the second no” are unclear, while the speculative explanation interrupts the comparison of chart data. Organise the response into a brief overview followed by focused comparisons, and use clear transitions to show how the trends relate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “washing machine,” “refrigerator,” “vacuum cleaner,” and “percentage,” so the reader can generally identify the subject of each point. However, the range is limited and several phrases are inaccurate or awkward, such as “the difference between how the use,” “increase in number,” and “its percentage tends to be 10%.” Repetition of “growing” and “with the passage of time” also limits precision. Choose vocabulary that describes chart movement and ownership directly, such as “the proportion of households owning,” “rose,” “levelled off,” and “declined.” Check spelling and word forms, including “compared,” “does not,” and “their use.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine ideas using clauses and time references, but sentence structures are often faulty, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “The graph illustrates the difference between how the use …” lacks a complete grammatical construction, while “in 2019 its percentage growing to reached the 75%” mixes verb forms. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “refrigerator having one of the top appliance.” Most sentences rely on simple patterns or loosely joined clauses. Practise writing complete subject–verb sentences and use consistent past-tense verbs for the historical data.
