Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main contrast: ownership of the appliances generally rose while weekly housework time fell. You also report several relevant figures, including washing machines at 40% in 1920 and housework at about 50 hours initially. However, some key details are missing or imprecise. The refrigerator’s rapid rise to 100% by 1980 and the vacuum cleaner’s increase to 100% by 2000 are not clearly distinguished, and the washing-machine trend includes a dip around 1980 that your account omits. Most importantly, housework fell to about 11 hours in 2019, not 1. The explanation that automation caused the decline goes beyond what the charts establish. More precise comparisons and a fuller account of the trends would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework time. The contrast signalled by “In contary” and “However” helps the reader follow the main comparison, and the ideas are generally presented in a sensible order. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, though. “Hence” introduces a causal conclusion that the charts do not prove, while “this automatic machines” does not clearly refer to a specific set of appliances. The appliance paragraph also groups the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner together without explaining their different timelines. Use more precise referencing and organise the details around clear comparisons to make progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ownership,” “dramatic rise,” “decline,” and “household,” so the main topic is usually understandable. However, the range and control are limited by repeated or inaccurate expressions such as “electrial machines,” “household works,” and “spending time in houseworks.” Several word choices are unnatural for describing a graph: “shifting of having” and “less appealing” suggest changing preference rather than changing ownership. Spelling errors, including “vaccum” and “contary,” also reduce precision. Aim for standard chart language and accurate collocations, such as “the proportion of households owning” an appliance and “hours spent on housework.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. Some sentence patterns are effective, such as the contrast between appliance ownership and housework time. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain noticeable. For example, “the numbers of hours spending … is shown” has problems with both the subject and verb pattern, while “which show a increase” does not agree with its subject and uses the wrong article. “People spend nearly 50 hours … which is fallen down” also combines tenses and forms inaccurately. Practise building accurate comparisons with structures such as “rose from … to …” and “fell to …,” while checking agreement and articles.
