Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad pattern that appliance ownership generally rose while housework time fell, and you include several relevant figures. However, important data are misreported: vacuum-cleaner ownership was about 30% in 1920, not 0%, and the refrigerator was about 2% then. The 1980 washing-machine figure was around 65%, rather than 58%, and the refrigerator had already reached 100% by 1980. The phrase “increases between 50 to 50%” is unclear, and the response does not give a clear overview of the main comparisons, such as refrigerators reaching full ownership and housework dropping from 50 to about 11 hours. More accurate selection and reporting of key trends would make the summary more complete and reliable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, discusses appliance ownership, and then turns to housework. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to connect information. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The first appliance paragraph moves between vacuum cleaners, washing machines and refrigerators, while the next returns to vacuum cleaners, making the comparisons harder to follow. Some links are also awkward or do not clearly signal the relationship between ideas, and the final sentence begins with “Whereas” without a complete contrasting clause. Grouping the appliance trends together in a consistent order, followed by the housework trend, would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “ownership,” “gradually,” “rapid increase” and “hours per week,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. There is some repetition of “percentage” and “increases,” and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “increases between 50 to 50%” and “throughout the year from 1940 to 2019.” “The percentage of household” also uses an unsuitable form for the intended meaning. Aim for more precise trend language and natural collocations, for example, describing a figure as rising “from 50% to 100%” or remaining “stable.” This would make comparisons clearer and give the vocabulary more flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine information using clauses and contrast, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors recur. The opening, “As the chart below demonstrate,” is not a complete, accurate introductory sentence; the verb also does not agree with “chart.” In “the percentage … was nearly about 30 and 40%. and in 1940 it increases,” punctuation is faulty and the tense shifts from past to present. The phrase “the number of hours … was 50%” also uses an incorrect unit and construction. Several sentences begin with “Whereas” but do not form complete contrasts. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, subject–verb agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, while varying sentence patterns.
