Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover both charts and identify the broad contrast: appliance ownership generally rose while housework hours fell. You also include many relevant figures, such as washing machines at 40% in 1920 and refrigerators reaching 100% by 1980. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main pattern: refrigerators and vacuum cleaners, rather than all appliances, reached 100%, while washing machines peaked at 75% in 2019. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: refrigerators were about 2%, not 0%, in 1920; washing machines dipped to 65% in 1980, not near 60%; and housework was 15 hours in 1980 and 2000, not near 10. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, separate appliance descriptions and a final paragraph on housework. This makes the information broadly easy to locate, and time markers such as “In 1940” and “In 2019” help show sequence. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated “After that” and “Moreover,” and several links are unclear or awkward, including “In the next year” for 1980 and “Secondly” when moving to the second chart. Some sentences combine several changes without clear relationships. Grouping the main trends more selectively and using precise comparisons between series would make the organisation more coherent and cohesion less repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “slightly rose,” “sharply jumped,” “marginally declined” and “stable,” which is appropriate for describing charts. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the intended trend difficult to understand. For example, “the household escalated,” “it was fight to 50%,” and “it rose the level with 20%” do not express the data clearly. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “illustartes,” “owenership,” “recored” and “represtend.” Use standard chart-reporting phrases consistently, such as “the proportion of households owning…” and “rose to,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some simple sentences and attempt longer structures with time clauses and contrast, for example, “However, in 1980…” and “After that…”. Nevertheless, the range is limited, and many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement or sentence construction. Examples include “the percentage … recored highest,” “the household sharply jumped,” and “the percentage was surged to 100%.” Several clauses are incomplete or joined awkwardly, as in “Whereas in 1940…” and “and stable the level.” Articles and prepositions are also inconsistently controlled. These errors can make relationships between the figures harder to follow. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
