Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the broad contrast that appliance ownership generally rose while housework hours fell, but it does not adequately summarise the charts. Several key details are inaccurate: refrigerator ownership did not remain unchanged, rising from about 2% to 100%, and the washing-machine figure did not fall to 5% before reaching 2%; it rose to about 70% in 2000 and 75% in 2019. The vacuum-cleaner comparison is left unfinished, and the hours-of-housework data are not reported. The overview also says “percent of household work” rather than clearly describing appliance ownership. The response is below the required 150 words, further limiting coverage. To improve, include a clear overview and accurate comparisons for all four series.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an introduction, an overview and a detail paragraph, and transitions such as “To begins with” and “Similarly” show an effort to connect information. However, progression is weak because the final paragraph stops mid-thought at “In contrast vacume cleaner,” leaving the comparison incomplete. The refrigerator sentence is also not developed with supporting figures, and the housework trend is not followed through in the body. Some linking words do not accurately signal the relationship between the data. Use separate, complete paragraphs for the overview and the main comparisons, and connect each appliance trend to its correct figures before moving to housework hours.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “percentage,” “increased,” and “decreased,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes obscuring the intended meaning: “percent of household work” does not describe appliance ownership, while “usage” is less precise than ownership for this chart. Spelling errors such as “nuber,” “equipments,” “Afterword,” and “vacume” are noticeable, and phrases such as “went upto 5%” are unclear in context. Aim for precise trend language and check spelling. For example, use “the proportion of households owning a refrigerator” and “reached” or “stood at” when reporting values.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, including “Overall, it is clear that…” and a sequence describing changes over time. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Examples include “To begins with,” “which incline gradually,” and “the use of refrigerator remained same,” where verb forms, articles or sentence patterns are faulty. The tense also shifts awkwardly in “then goes up,” and punctuation is missing around “2019.Similarly.” The final sentence is incomplete, so it cannot communicate a full comparison. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence structures, and proofread articles, agreement and punctuation while retaining some varied sentence forms.
