Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad topic and include both appliance ownership and housework, and you note the overall decline in housework hours. However, the overview is unclear and does not accurately summarise the main patterns: appliance ownership generally rose, while housework time fell. Several figures and comparisons are misreported. For example, washing-machine ownership was about 75% in 2019, not a steady 60% from 2000 to 2019; vacuum-cleaner ownership reached 100% only in 2000, not 1960; and refrigerators reached 90% in 1960, not 1940. The housework figure was highest in 1920, but the later decline is not described precisely. Select the key trends and report the data accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “Apart from this” signal a change of focus. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several trends and years are combined in unclear sequences. The overview sentence, “households in 1920 washing machine percentage was continue rose,” does not communicate a clear comparison, while the appliance paragraph moves between washing machines, vacuum cleaners and refrigerators without a consistent order. Some linking words, including “however,” do not clearly connect the ideas around them. Group the three appliance trends together in a logical sequence, then describe housework hours, using clear references to years and comparisons.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “ownership,” “housework,” “increased” and “dropped,” so the topic is recognisable. However, the range is limited and many word choices or combinations are inaccurate, making parts of the report hard to understand. Examples include “rocketed in 90 percentage,” “continue rose,” and “numbers of house work hours was fell gradually.” There are also spelling errors such as “compere,” “addetionaly” and “fist.” Use precise trend language and standard collocations, such as “rose to 90%,” “remained stable,” and “hours spent on housework declined.” Proofreading spelling and avoiding repeated, vague wording would improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to form longer sentences and use time clauses, but control of sentence structure is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. For example, “The graphs gives” has subject–verb disagreement, while “washing machine percentage was continue rose” has an incorrect verb construction. In “numbers of house work hours was fell gradually,” the subject and verb do not agree and the verb form is faulty. Articles and plural forms are also often missing or incorrect, as in “in year of 1940” and “number of house.” Most sentences rely on basic patterns, with complex clauses often breaking down. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, complete sentences before combining them.
