Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad contrast between rising appliance ownership and falling housework time, and you mention all three appliances. However, the report covers the data only partially and includes several inaccurate figures: refrigerators were about 2% in 1920, not 0%, and washing-machine ownership was about 65% in 1980, not around 60%; it rose again to 75% by 2019. The vacuum-cleaner figure did not remain stable: it increased from about 30% to 100%. Your overview also says this appliance had the highest figure, which is not true at the start of the period. Housework is measured in hours, not percentages. The response is 116 words, below the required 150, and needs more accurate comparisons and key figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable basic structure: an opening statement, an overview, and details about appliances followed by housework. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is organised. However, progression within the report is limited, and the appliance details are compressed into one sentence, making comparisons difficult to follow. Linking words such as “to begin with,” “meanwhile,” and “however” are used, but some connections are unclear or do not express the intended relationship. For example, “Meanwhile vacuum cleaner increased in 1920 from 0” is difficult to interpret. Use separate, logically grouped paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework, and connect changes across the years more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant terms, including “accounted for,” “increased,” “declined,” and “per week,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the vocabulary range is limited, and several inaccurate or misspelled expressions reduce clarity: “different ownerships” is not a natural way to describe the chart, while “time allocate” and “number of years” do not convey the intended meanings. Spelling errors such as “figuers,” “signifacantly,” and “contionous” are noticeable. Aim for precise chart language, for example “the proportion of households owning…” and “weekly housework hours.” Check spelling and choose words that accurately describe the measure being reported.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, such as “while vacuum cleaner recorded the highest figure…” and “before increasing to 100% in 1980.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect sentence clarity. Examples include missing or incorrect articles and plurals in “in household,” faulty verb forms in “which experiences continuous declined,” and unclear tense changes in “before it falls.” Several sentences also run together without appropriate punctuation, as in the overview beginning “OVERALL,the figuers…” Use complete sentences with consistent past-tense reporting, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation. More accurate sentence construction would make your comparisons easier to understand.
