Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad subject and include an overview, noting that appliance ownership generally rose while housework time declined. However, the overview contains a major misreading: vacuum-cleaner ownership was not higher throughout; refrigerators overtook it and reached 100%, as did vacuum cleaners. Several details are also inaccurate or incomplete: refrigerator ownership rose to 100% by 1980 and stayed there, rather than reaching its peak in 1960 and later dipping; vacuum ownership increased rather than “plummeted”; and the washing-machine account is left unfinished. The housework trend is mentioned but not supported with figures. These omissions and inaccuracies mean the main features are only minimally reported. Select the key trends accurately and compare the series with representative figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. Phrases such as “Overall,” “To begin with,” and “Moving to the rest of information” signal the intended structure. However, progression is weak because the final paragraph stops mid-sentence, leaving the washing-machine data and the housework series without a complete account. Some linking is also imprecise: “than” does not clearly connect the refrigerator’s stages, and “while” in the overview joins trends that are not accurately contrasted. Group the appliance trends into a complete, logically ordered paragraph, then report the housework figures in a separate section, using clear comparisons and references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage,” “fluctuations,” “reached,” and “remained,” and the general topic is understandable. There is also an attempt to vary wording with “ratio” and “peak.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing chart data: “ownerships of electrical gadgets,” “vacuum cleaner users,” and “individuals who was using” do not express household ownership precisely. “Plummeted” means a sharp fall, although the vacuum-cleaner figure rises, and “slumped” is not supported by the refrigerator trend. Spelling errors such as “noticable” and “unchange” also reduce control. Prefer precise chart language such as “the proportion of households owning” and use trend verbs that match the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including an overview with a subordinate clause and a sequence of changes in the refrigerator figure. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. For example, “individuals who was using” has an agreement error, while “there was remarkably decline” lacks the correct article and form. The construction “reached at its peak to 90% … than slightly slumped and touch” combines incorrect verb patterns and inconsistent tense. The opening also uses an awkward plural construction, “percentage of ownerships.” Build accurate past-tense sentences around the household figures, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and punctuate complete sentences rather than leaving the final clause unfinished.
