Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the two charts and mention the broad pattern that housework hours declined, so the response is relevant to the task. However, the overview is unclear and several key trends are inaccurate: washing-machine ownership did not rise to 100% but ended at about 75%, while refrigerator ownership rose sharply from almost zero to 100%, rather than changing moderately. The claim that vacuum-cleaner ownership reached 100% by 2019 is correct, but the account gives little supporting detail or comparison. The housework trend is not quantified beyond saying it became “lesser.” The response is also substantially below the required 150 words, leaving the task only minimally covered. Include a clear overview and select accurate figures to support the main changes.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an attempted overview, and brief details about the appliance trends, followed by a sentence on housework. This gives the reader some sense of the task’s organisation. However, progression is limited because the details are not grouped or developed systematically, and the final paragraph is incomplete. The repeated use of “while” does not always create a clear comparison, as in “While the other chart show declined over years.” References such as “the first chart” and “the other chart” are understandable but could be more precise. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and two detail paragraphs, and use linking expressions to show contrasts and changes over time accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “electrical appliances,” “refrigerator,” and “hours of housework.” This is enough to communicate the general subject, but the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward. For example, “washing machine escalate by 100 percent” does not accurately describe the increase, and “refrigerator slide up” is not a natural way to report a rising trend. “Become lesser” is also an unsuitable expression for a decrease. There is a spelling error in “vaccum.” Use precise trend language such as “rose,” “fell,” “levelled off,” and “remained stable,” and distinguish between a percentage-point change and a percentage increase.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, with an attempt at a more complex comparison in “While the other chart show declined over years.” That attempt is not grammatically complete, and subject–verb agreement errors occur in “washing machine and vacuum cleaner shows” and “the other chart show.” Other problems include the verb pattern in “the number of hours per week become lesser” and the incomplete final sentence, which lacks a full, clearly expressed comparison or endpoint. These errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to follow. Practise accurate present-tense reporting, plural agreement, and complete clauses. For example, write “Ownership of washing machines and vacuum cleaners increased, while weekly housework hours fell.”
