Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given line graphs illustrate the ownership of three electronic instruments and number of working hours of domastic work in household in a country from 1920 to 2019.
Overall, the major proportion of refrigerator and vaccume cleaner were fully used for domestic purpose followed by washing machine with 3/4 proportion in the list of three electrical appliances. Moreover, the number of hours of housework declined gradually as per week.
In addition, refrigerator started from 1920, gradually increased with 100% of washing machine in 1980, and remained same throughout 2019. Despite this trend, initial 30% of housholds taked vaccume cleaner in 1920, and subtantionally rose with 100% in 2000 with equal propotion in 2019. However, washing machine on top nearly one-half proportion of the washing machine in 2019, 70% in 1960 with a short fluctuated in 1980 with 62% and slight increased with 75% approximately, in 2019.
In 1920, Every household worked almost more than 4 days a week and working hours are declined in steady way with only numbers with 10 hours per week.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad patterns: refrigerator and vacuum-cleaner ownership rose, while weekly housework hours fell. However, several key details are unclear or inaccurate. The refrigerator began at about 2%, not at an unspecified level, and reached 100% by 1980; the phrase “increased with 100% of washing machine” confuses the two series. Vacuum-cleaner ownership reached 100% in 2000, while washing-machine ownership dipped from 70% in 1960 to about 65% in 1980 before rising to 75%. The overview also incorrectly suggests refrigerators and vacuum cleaners were fully used throughout. The final comparison about “more than 4 days” is not supported by the chart, which reports hours, not days. Select the main trends and report them precisely to strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate discussion of appliance ownership and housework. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression within the appliance paragraph is difficult to follow: the refrigerator, vacuum cleaner and washing machine are discussed in quick succession, and phrases such as “Despite this trend” and “However” do not clearly show the relationships between the data. Some references are also confusing, particularly “100% of washing machine” and “washing machine on top.” Group the two appliances that reached full ownership together, then describe the washing-machine fluctuation separately. Use clear comparisons and straightforward linking phrases so each sentence develops one point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “declined gradually” and “proportion,” and you attempt to describe change with words such as “increased” and “rose.” However, the range is limited and several choices or collocations make the data difficult to understand. “Electronic instruments” is not an appropriate label for household appliances, while “fully used” does not mean that all households owned an appliance. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “domastic,” “vaccume,” “housholds” and “subtantionally.” Aim for precise chart language such as “the proportion of households owning…” and “reached 100%,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid repeating “proportion” where “percentage” or “ownership rate” is clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “Despite this trend” and a sentence beginning “However.” Nevertheless, errors are frequent, and some sentence structures make the intended comparisons hard to interpret. For example, “refrigerator started from 1920, gradually increased with 100%” lacks a clear subject and does not express the change accurately; “washing machine on top nearly one-half proportion” is also incomplete. There are problems with articles, plurals and verb forms, as in “in household,” “households taked,” and “working hours are declined.” Use complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and keep past-tense reporting consistent: for example, “Refrigerator ownership rose from about 2% in 1920 to 100% in 1980.”
