Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad patterns in both charts: appliance ownership generally increased, while weekly housework declined. You also include several relevant figures, such as refrigerators reaching 100% and vacuum cleaners rising from about 30% to full ownership. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear. Refrigerators began at about 2%, not 0%; washing-machine ownership ended at about 75%, not 65%, and its changes are not clearly described. Vacuum-cleaner ownership reached 70% in 1960, 90% in 1980, and 100% in 2000, rather than reaching 70% by 2000. The overview also omits the major contrast that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached saturation, while housework fell from 50 to 11 hours. Select and compare the main trends more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework. This makes the information broadly easy to follow. However, progression within the appliance paragraph is sometimes difficult to track: “then it went up to 70% until 2000, it touched 100” compresses several years and leaves the timing unclear. Some linking expressions are mechanical or do not show the intended relationship, as in “therefore” and “in contrast” in the vacuum-cleaner description. The overview’s “All percentages can be divided into various categories” does not help organise the data. Use clearer year-by-year comparisons and connect each figure directly to the trend it illustrates.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of trend vocabulary, including “upward trend,” “fluctuating,” “plummeted,” and “downfall,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing charts. “Experienced fell down trend” and “presented downfall” are not idiomatic; “declined” or “fell steadily” would be clearer. “At the outset” is used before a description spanning several decades, and “various categories” is vague and does not describe the data. There are also spelling and form errors, notably “illustartes.” Aim for precise, conventional chart language and avoid using several near-synonyms for a fall when one accurate verb is enough.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “while,” “whereas,” and “until.” However, control is uneven, and faulty sentence construction sometimes makes relationships between figures unclear. For example, “A period of 99 years (1920-2019)” is a fragment, while “Following number of hours of housework, it had experienced fell down trend” has an incomplete opening phrase and an incorrect verb pattern. In “washing machine had fluctuating trend from starting to ending started from 40%,” the clauses run together and the article is missing. Tense use also shifts between “showed” and present-tense descriptions. Practise complete sentences, consistent tense, and accurate article and verb patterns, especially when combining comparisons.
