Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You cover all four series and identify the broad pattern that appliance ownership rose while housework hours fell. Several figures are reported accurately, including washing-machine ownership at 40% in 1920 and 60% in 1940, and vacuum-cleaner ownership at 30% initially. However, the overview is unclear and does not highlight the key endpoint comparison: refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached 100%, while washing machines remained lower. Some details are inaccurate or imprecise: the refrigerator reached about 90% in 1960, not between 1920 and 1960 as phrased, and washing-machine ownership dipped to about 65% in 1980 before rising. The housework trend is also compressed, omitting the stable 15 hours in 1980 and 2000. Select and compare these main features more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable introduction, overview and detail paragraphs, and it generally moves from appliance ownership to housework. This gives the reader some organisation. However, progression within the details is not always clear: “Between 1920 to 1960, refrigerator reached at 90%” does not clearly distinguish the starting and ending values, and “In between 1980 to 2019” makes the time span difficult to follow. Linking words such as “then” and “after that” are repeated, while the overview’s repeated “in beginning” construction makes the ideas feel mechanical. Group the appliance trends together with clear time comparisons, then describe the hours series, using accurate references such as “by 1960” and “from 1980 onwards.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “percentage,” “increased,” “decreased” and “reached,” so the main trends are usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “number of house work,” “increased slowly slowly,” and “reached at around 70.” Repetition of “increased” and “decreased” also limits flexibility. Use precise terms for the data, such as “the proportion of households owning…” and “weekly housework hours,” and choose verbs that show the pattern accurately: washing-machine ownership fluctuated slightly, whereas refrigerator ownership rose sharply before levelling off. More natural collocations would make the comparisons clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and linked sentences, and the reader can usually understand the intended trends. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and complex attempts are often faulty. Examples include “Overall, In beginning the percentage of washing machine was lowest,” which has incorrect article use and sentence construction, and “it increased over the period .” where punctuation is misplaced. In “In 1920,About 30% of household had,” spacing and singular/plural agreement are problematic; “hours were 50 of per week” also has an incorrect grammatical pattern. Tense and sentence boundaries need more consistent control. Practise accurate comparison structures, for example, “The figure rose from 40% to 60%,” and proofread articles, plurals, prepositions and punctuation.
