Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the two measures and give a broad sense that appliance ownership rose while housework time fell. However, the overview is unclear and includes inaccurate comparisons: washing machines and vacuum cleaners did not finish at the same level, as the former reached about 75% and the latter 100%. The washing-machine figure did not decline in the final year; it rose from about 70% to 75%. You also say housework time fluctuated, although it generally decreased, with a brief plateau. Several key figures are missing or imprecise, including the refrigerator’s rise to 100% by 1980 and the vacuum cleaner’s steady increase. The response is 143 words, below the 150-word minimum; develop the main trends and comparisons more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is an attempt to organise the response with an introduction, an overview and further details, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Initially” and “Furthermore.” This gives the reader some indication of the intended structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview contains unclear statements (“both are end with same ratio”) and the details move between appliances without a consistent comparison. Some connectors are used awkwardly or without a clear relationship, such as “After that” and “While.” Paragraphing is also limited, with the overview and supporting information not clearly separated. Group the appliance trends together, then describe housework time, and use clear links to show contrast and change over time.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “percentage,” “fluctuated,” “increased” and “decreased,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to interpret: “much of time,” “stood in same ratio,” “started in 30 ration” and “felling in 2019.” Spelling errors such as “Refrigrator,” “percantage,” “Morever” and “Futhermore” also reduce accuracy. Use precise language for chart trends and values, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a figure as “stood at 30%” and a trend as “rose steadily,” rather than using “ratio” or “started in.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently obscure the intended meaning. Examples include “It jus evident,” “the refrigerator percentage starting lowest percentage,” and “the households washing machine 40 percentage,” where sentence structure and verb forms are incomplete or inaccurate. Tense and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “washing machine declined” and “it has fluctuated,” while punctuation and capitalisation are unreliable, including unnecessary capitals after commas and full stops. Aim first for complete, accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb: for example, “The proportion of households with washing machines was 40% in 1920.” Then practise joining comparisons with accurate clauses.
