Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The given graphs compare the proportion of ownerships of electrical devices (washing machine, refrigerator and vacuum cleaner) and number of hours of hosehold per week per household from 1920 to 2019.
Overall, the amount of hours spend in household activities decreased over the given period. Furthermore, ownership of electrical devices increased significantly over the time frame. Although owning washing machine was popular in the initial year, its popularity decreased while comparing with other devices.
Initially, there was high ownership for washing machine; 50% of household owned washing machine in 1920. It saw gradual increment till 1960, reaching 70% ownership. The graph depiced slight rise up to around 72% in 2019, after it slight decrease in 1980. However, the least popular electrical device was refrigerator in 1920, holding just above 0% of shares. In subseqeunt years, it skyrocketted till 1980 reaching 100% of shares. After 1980, it became stable in that percentage.
Meanwhile, the ownership of vacuum cleaner was intermittent at 30% in 1920. It then saw the gradual increment yill 2000 reaching 100% of oenwership, after surpassing the proportion for washing machine. It settled at 100% till the final year. Regarding the number of household hours spent per week per household, it occupied half os the shares in 1920. Then, there was gradual decrement initial up to 1960, afterwards it showed consistency at around 10% till 2019.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both charts and provide a clear overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. Several key comparisons are also included, such as refrigerators reaching full ownership by 1980 and vacuum cleaners doing so by 2000. However, some figures and descriptions are inaccurate: washing-machine ownership was 40%, not 50%, in 1920, and it rose to about 75% by 2019 rather than 72%. The housework figure is measured in hours, not a share or percentage; it fell from 50 hours to 11, with a plateau at 15 hours between 1980 and 2000. Your overview also says washing-machine ownership decreased in popularity, although it ended higher than it began. More precise reporting of these features would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction and overview are followed by paragraphs describing the appliance trends and housework hours. Sequencing expressions such as “Initially,” “In subsequent years,” and “Meanwhile” help guide the reader through the timeline. The main limitation is that some links are awkward or unclear. For example, “It then saw the gradual increment till 2000” does not clearly identify the vacuum cleaner, and “after it slight decrease in 1980” makes the sequence difficult to follow. The final paragraph also shifts from appliance ownership to housework without a clear transition. Use explicit subjects and connect each comparison to the relevant series; this would make the progression smoother and less dependent on formulaic time markers.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “ownership,” “gradual increment,” “stable,” and “surpassing,” and the reader can generally understand the trends you intend to describe. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “ownerships” should be “ownership,” “hours of household” is not the right expression, and “intermittent” does not describe a steady rise in vacuum-cleaner ownership. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “hosehold,” “depiced,” “subseqeunt,” “yill,” and “oenwership.” Prefer straightforward, accurate terms such as “percentage of households,” “hours spent on housework,” and “increased steadily.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would strengthen this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “Although” and “while,” and most of the intended meaning remains understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with articles, verb forms, and sentence construction. For example, “Although owning washing machine was popular” needs an article and a more suitable structure, while “50% of household owned” has a number-agreement problem. In “it saw gradual increment till 1960,” the article is missing, and “after it slight decrease in 1980” is not a complete grammatical clause. The sentence about housework also uses “it occupied half of the shares,” which does not form a clear grammatical description of hours. Check articles and agreement, and make sure each clause has a clear subject and verb.
