Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad trends: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. You also include several relevant figures, such as refrigerators reaching 100% and vacuum cleaners rising from 30% to 100%. However, the account is only partial and some details are inaccurate or unclear. Housework is measured in hours, not percentages, and it falls to about 11 hours by 2019; your response stops at 1980 and says it then remained constant. The washing-machine trend is described as fluctuating, but its values and later rise are not clearly reported. The response is also two words below the 150-word minimum. Add a concise overview and cover the final period accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an introduction, an overview and two body paragraphs, and the shift from appliance ownership to housework is understandable. Some sequencing is also clear, for example, the refrigerator figures are presented from 1920 through 1980. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the appliance paragraph moves between washing machines, vacuum cleaners and refrigerators without a consistent comparison pattern. Linking is limited, and phrases such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” do not always clarify how the information relates. The final paragraph ends abruptly and omits the 2000 and 2019 figures. Group the three appliance trends together in a consistent order, then describe the housework trend across the full period.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “increased,” “dropped” and “steadily,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “vaccum,” “shirp deciline” and “gradully.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “number of ownership” would be better expressed as “proportion of households owning,” while “scored” does not suit a percentage trend. Repetition of “increased” and “after that” also limits flexibility. Use accurate trend language and vary it with terms such as “rose,” “reached,” “levelled off” and “declined,” ensuring that each verb matches the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the opening sentence communicates the topic. However, grammatical errors are frequent, and some longer constructions are difficult to follow. Examples include “the ownership of washing machine are fluctuated,” where the subject and verb do not agree and the verb form is incorrect, and “Refrigerator are steadily rose up,” which has agreement and verb-form problems. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “the ownership of washing machine.” The sentence “In 1920, it about 50%” is missing a verb, and the housework figures should be expressed in hours rather than percentages. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns before adding more complex clauses.
