Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall patterns: appliance ownership rose, while weekly housework declined, and you correctly highlight refrigerators as the most dramatic increase. The refrigerator and vacuum-cleaner endpoints are also broadly accurate. However, some details are imprecise: refrigerators began at about 2%, rather than 0%, and housework ended at about 11 hours, rather than 10. The overview says ownership increased for every appliance, but washing-machine ownership dipped from around 70% in 1960 to 65% in 1980 before rising again. The housework trend is reported only through its start and end points, so its steady fall and later plateau are not fully described. More precise comparisons and coverage of these features would strengthen the summary.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph on appliance ownership, and a final sentence on housework. This makes the main categories easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However,” and “In contrast” help signal relationships, and the appliance paragraph moves through the three products in a sensible order. Some connections are less smooth, however. The sentence beginning “While, ownership of vacuum cleaner…” is not well integrated with the preceding sentence, and “however” in the washing-machine sentence creates a crowded contrast. The housework information is also isolated in a single sentence rather than developed alongside the other trends. Use complete, clearly linked sentences and give the second chart a fuller paragraph for more consistent progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of trend vocabulary, including “increased rapidly,” “grew significantly,” “rose moderately,” “fluctuation,” and “fell significantly.” These choices communicate the broad movements and show some variation rather than relying on one verb throughout. However, several word forms and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “ownerships,” “reaching at 100%,” and “stayed there,” while “in contract” appears to be a misspelling of “in contrast.” “Time spent while doing housework” is also less natural than a concise phrase such as “time spent on housework.” These slips do not prevent understanding, but they limit precision and naturalness. Aim for accurate collocations and consistent terms such as “the proportion of households owning…”.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including relative clauses (“which increased steadily”) and contrast clauses (“however there was slight fluctuation”). The overall meaning is generally clear, but some errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “The charts compares” should use a plural verb, and “there was a increase” needs the correct article. “Ownership of refrigerators increased rapidly over the period, started from…” joins two verb forms awkwardly; a clearer structure would be “It started at…” or “having started at…”. The sentence beginning “While, ownership…” is also a fragment-like construction, and punctuation around “however” needs attention. More reliable control of these patterns, alongside varied sentence forms, would improve accuracy.
