Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the general subject and mentions the period, but it does not provide a meaningful summary of the main trends. The overview is inaccurate: the refrigerator was not the least-used appliance overall, since it rose from about 2% to 100%, while washing-machine ownership was lowest by 2019. The claim that washing machines and refrigerators were used in large numbers in 1920 is also incorrect. The response gives no clear comparisons across the years and omits the key decline in housework hours from 50 to 11 per week. It also contains only 90 words, below the required 150. To improve, report the major rises, the washing-machine fluctuation, and the overall fall in housework time, using accurate figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There is a basic attempt to introduce the charts, followed by an overall statement and references to 1920 and the full period. However, the ideas do not progress in a clear sequence: appliance ownership, a claim about which appliance was most or least used, and housework hours are mixed together without a structured comparison. Phrases such as “This picture is describing” and “These are very useable” add little relevant information, while “since, 1920 to 2019” does not connect the final point clearly. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and paragraphs comparing appliance trends and housework hours. Use clear links such as “By contrast” and “Meanwhile” to show relationships.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of relevant topic words, including “washing machine,” “refrigerator,” “vacuum cleaner,” and “housework,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural: “usage of electic machinery,” “there number of time use,” and “the thing which used in less amount” do not express the chart information clearly. “Applicance” and “electic” are also misspelled. Use precise chart language such as “household ownership,” “the proportion of households,” “increased,” “remained stable,” and “hours spent on housework.” Avoid describing ownership as “use” unless the chart actually measures usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts several sentence forms, including an opening description and an “Overall” statement, but control of basic sentence structure is inconsistent. For example, “the thing which used in less amount is refrigerator” is missing a clear verb construction and has article problems, while “washing machine and refrigerator used in large number” lacks appropriate articles and a grammatical passive or ownership structure. The sentence “50 hours per week the housework was measured in previous years since, 1920 to 2019” has an unclear word order and an awkward time construction. Most sentences are simple, and the errors make some relationships difficult to follow. Practise accurate patterns such as “The percentage of households owning X rose…” and “Housework fell from…to…”.
