Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You identify the main overall patterns: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. You also include useful comparisons, such as washing machines at 40% versus vacuum cleaners at 30% in 1920, and note that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached full household ownership by the end. This gives the response a relevant overview and coverage of both graphs. However, some details are incomplete or inaccurate: refrigerator ownership was about 2% in 1920, rather than simply absent, and housework fell to 11 hours in 2019, not 15; 15 hours applies to 1980 and 2000. The washing-machine trend also dipped in 1980 before rising again, a notable feature worth reporting. More precise selection and reporting of these details would strengthen the summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework. The sequence is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Regarding housework” help signal shifts in focus. This coherent arrangement is a strength. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “And number of hours…” is an awkward continuation of the overview, while “According to the given first line graph in 1920, that…” does not clearly connect its opening phrase to the main clause. The appliance paragraph also moves through several years without consistently anchoring each comparison. Use complete, direct topic sentences and clearer time markers to make progression smoother and cohesion less noticeable.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “increased,” “reached,” and “per week,” so the main trends are usually understandable. There is also some attempt to vary wording, for example “decreased significantly” and “reached 100%.” However, the range and control are limited, with repeated use of “increased” and “reached,” and several inaccurate or unnatural expressions. “The ownership of refrigerator absent” and “the sale of vacuum cleaner” do not describe the chart accurately in natural English; the graph shows household ownership, not sales. Spelling errors such as “incresed,” “decresed,” and “approxiamtely” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of trend and comparison phrases, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentences, including a comparison with “as compared with” and a contrast introduced by “While.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence formation and grammatical patterns sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “According to the given first line graph in 1920, that 40% individuals owned…” has an unnecessary “that” and an incomplete construction; “household spent 50 hours per week to doing” combines incompatible verb patterns. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and agreement, as in “three type” and “the ownership of refrigerator.” The overview contains a repeated “that,” and sentence-initial “And” creates a fragment-like connection. Practise complete clauses, article use, and consistent verb patterns, then proofread punctuation and sentence boundaries.
