Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The two line graph given below track the changes in the percentage ownership of electrical appliances used for everyday home chores and the number of hours spent while doing house work in a country from year 1920 to 2010.
Overall, the first graph shows increase in the elctrical appliances ownership where percentage of household keeping washing machine showed a gradual growth but refirgerator and vacuum cleaner showed a fast surge. In the second graph, there is steep decrease in the time spend doing household chores initially and then chart shows minimal changes.
Percentage of household with the electrical appliances increased remarkably with refiregerator and vacuum cleaner holding the highest percentage of 100 percent in 2000 and then mentaining it till 2019. In 1920 washing machine held highest percentage till 1940 then after 1960 it flactuated, reaching 75 percent in 2019.
Time spent doing per week per household only dropped since 1920. It showed a steap trend in start till 1960 from 50 hours per week to 20 hours per week. After words it showed minute changes reaching 10 hours per week.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover both graphs and provide a clear overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while housework time fell, with the sharpest decline early on. Several key figures are also reported accurately, including refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reaching 100% by 2000 and washing-machine ownership reaching 75% in 2019. This meets the task well, with some features developed more fully than others. However, the opening gives the period as ending in 2010 rather than 2019, and the washing-machine account is imprecise: it rose to 70% in 1960, dipped to 65% in 1980, then increased. The claim that it “held highest percentage till 1940” is unclear and does not accurately describe the comparisons. Include a few more precise intermediate comparisons to make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework hours. This makes the two main trends easy to identify. The progression within paragraphs is generally understandable, and time markers such as “In 1920” and “After words” help signal sequence. However, some links are unclear or mechanical. For example, “In 1920 washing machine held highest percentage till 1940 then after 1960 it fluctuated” compresses several comparisons and makes the timeline difficult to follow. The final paragraph also repeats the decline without clearly distinguishing the later plateau from the continued fall to 2019. Use clearer sentence boundaries and connect each figure to the relevant year and trend.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “gradual growth,” “fast surge,” “steep decrease,” and “reaching.” These choices communicate the broad patterns, and the response includes some variation rather than relying only on “increase” and “decrease.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “elctrical,” “refirgerator,” “flactuated,” and “mentaining.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “percentage ownership,” “holding the highest percentage,” and “minute changes.” Aim for accurate collocations and distinguish a rise, a fall, a fluctuation, and a plateau. Proofreading spelling and choosing more exact trend language would make the report clearer and more controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the overview sentence contrasting the two graphs and the clause beginning “where percentage of household…”. The main meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “The two line graph … track” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the time spend doing household chores” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent in phrases such as “percentage of household” and “washing machine held highest percentage.” The sentence about washing-machine ownership combines several time points without clear punctuation, which affects readability. Work on agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries, while retaining the useful variety of sentence structures you are attempting.
