Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the overall contrast: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. You also mention the refrigerator’s strong increase and the washing machine’s slight dip, so the response selects relevant features. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear: the refrigerator began at about 2%, not zero, and reached 100% by 1980; the vacuum cleaner also reached 100% by 2000. The washing-machine figure fell from 70% to about 65% in 1980, rather than to 60%, and then rose to 75% by 2019. The housework measure is hours, not a percentage, and it declined from 50 to about 11 hours. Include these key comparisons more precisely to make the report more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the appliance chart and housework chart. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “With regards to” and “When it comes to” help signal shifts, although some are formulaic and the overview’s comparison is not fully clear. Within the appliance paragraph, the discussion moves between all three items and then focuses on the washing machine without describing the vacuum cleaner’s progression, which weakens the sequence. The final paragraph is very brief and does not develop the housework trend. Grouping the appliance trends more systematically and using clear comparisons would improve progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “ownership,” “significant rise,” “reduce” and “per week,” and the main topic remains understandable. However, the range and control are limited, with repeated use of “over the years” and inaccurate or awkward expressions such as “appliances usage,” “number of hours reduce,” and “match ownership.” Spelling errors—including “chnages,” “througout,” “increse,” and “reval”—are noticeable and detract from the report’s clarity. Some word choices also misrepresent the data: “10%” should be “11 hours,” and “electronic items” is less precise than “electrical appliances.” Build a more accurate set of trend verbs and collocations, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast with “Although” and a relative clause beginning “which reval information.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “The graph below illustrate” has subject–verb disagreement, while “amount of time consume housework” lacks a correctly formed clause. “Although, refrigerator shows…” is not a complete, well-formed contrast, and “it was rose again” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “per house.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, then check agreement, articles and punctuation.
