Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad pattern that appliance ownership generally increased while time spent on housework declined, and you attempt to cover both charts. However, the account is only partially accurate and the overview is unclear: “the biggest soar in Refrigerator” does not explain the overall contrast, and the washing-machine trend is described as fluctuating without a clear summary. Several figures or labels are confused. For example, refrigerators began at about 2% in 1920, not 0% in 1020; vacuum cleaners began at 30%, not 40%; and the washing-machine series is incorrectly described as rising from 30% to 90%. The housework figures are hours, not percentages. Select the main trends accurately and compare the series using a few reliable figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation: an introduction is followed by an overview, appliance details and a paragraph on housework. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly” and “Subsequently” show an effort to guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because the appliance series are mixed up and several sentences lack clear connections, as in “Secondly, vacuume cleaner and it commence…” and “Finally it gain 74% on it.” Some linking words, including “However” and “Consequently,” do not clearly express the relationship between the information. Group the appliance trends in a consistent order, then describe housework separately, using clear comparisons and references to the correct series.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “ownership,” “fluctuation,” “decline” and “stable,” and you attempt to describe change rather than simply list figures. However, the range is limited and inaccurate word choice and spelling sometimes make the meaning hard to understand. Examples include “biggest soar,” “layout of changes,” “disparity” where a comparison is intended, and misspellings such as “Refrigeator,” “vacuume” and “tremian.” Some expressions are also unnatural, such as “it pulmmet directly 10% on it.” Choose precise verbs for trends and use standard spellings; for example, say that a figure “rose,” “fell,” “remained stable” or “reached” a level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the response has recognisable paragraph breaks. However, sentence structures are limited, and errors in verb forms, sentence construction and agreement occur frequently enough to make some statements difficult to interpret. For example, “the Refrigeator it initiate” has an unclear subject and incorrect verb form, while “in 1960 it will rose” combines incompatible verb forms. The phrase “the Number of houses per week between 1920 to 2019 that it diminished” is also not a complete, well-formed sentence. Practise writing direct comparisons with a clear subject and past-tense verb, such as “Housework fell from 50 hours in 1920 to 35 in 1940.” Check articles, prepositions and punctuation when editing.
