Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad contrast that appliance ownership generally rose while housework time fell, and you include an overview. However, several key details are misreported, which makes the account only partially accurate. In 1920, washing-machine ownership was 40% and refrigerator ownership about 2%, not zero; by 2019, refrigerators and vacuum cleaners were at 100%, while washing machines were about 75%. You reverse the vacuum-cleaner trend by saying it changed only slightly and ended at approximately 70%. The housework figure fell from 50 hours to 11, with intermediate values that would help describe the decline. Select the main trends accurately and compare the three appliances more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two detail paragraphs. The contrast marker “In contrast” also signals a shift to housework hours, so the reader can follow the broad organisation. However, progression within the appliance paragraph is difficult to track because several series are combined in one sentence, and the comparisons are not consistently clear. Phrases such as “from lowest to highest amount” do not specify which appliances or years are being compared. Use one sentence for each important trend, and group the appliance data separately from the housework figures. More precise referencing and less mechanical linking would make the relationships easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ownership,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “approximately,” and the general topic remains understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes obscuring the data. “Proportion of time” is not the right description for the second graph, which measures hours per week; “hometask” is also unsuitable here. Expressions such as “reached from lowest to highest amount,” “made slightly changes,” and “fell down” are unnatural or imprecise. Spelling errors such as “sligtly” further reduce control. Build a small set of accurate trend phrases—such as “rose steadily,” “levelled off,” and “declined to”—and use them with the correct units.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of sentence forms, including an overview beginning “Overall” and a contrast sentence beginning “In contrast.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence construction, articles, agreement, and verb forms sometimes make the intended comparisons difficult to understand. For example, “in certain country” lacks an article, while “the number of households in Refrigerator and vacuum cleaner reached” has an unclear subject and faulty verb pattern. The sentence beginning “In 1920 the individuals in washing machine…” also does not form a clear grammatical comparison. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences around each series, and check articles, plurals, and tense consistency before combining clauses.
