Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and identify the main overall patterns: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. You also include useful comparisons, such as the washing machine’s dip to about 65% in 1980 and the refrigerator’s rapid rise. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the hours are reported as percentages rather than hours, and the final figure is about 11 hours, not 10%. The overview also says refrigerators and vacuum cleaners were “leading the market,” which is imprecise; both reached 100%, while washing machines stood at about 75%. More precise units and a clearer summary of the contrasting trends would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about appliance ownership and a final paragraph about housework. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “In the same manner” and “Finally” help signal progression, although some transitions are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. Within the appliance paragraph, several trends are crowded into long sentences, and repeated references to “the bar chart” interrupt the flow. Grouping the appliance comparisons more cleanly and using clearer references—for example, “this figure” or “the proportion”—would improve cohesion and make the comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “ownership,” “domestic work,” “surge,” “dip” and “decrease,” so the main ideas are usually understandable. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “number of transformation in the ownership” does not naturally describe the data, and “leading the market” suggests commercial competition rather than household ownership. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “electical,” “vaccum,” “applliances” and “comtimue,” which reduce precision. Choose standard chart language such as “proportion of households,” “rose” and “fell,” and proofread spelling. This would make the vocabulary more accurate and natural for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “and then” and “if we look at.” The overall meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Refrigerator and Vaccum cleaner has lead” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “the refrigerator who started” uses an unsuitable relative pronoun and tense. In “House work in 1920 were the highest,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the chart’s hours are incorrectly framed as a percentage. Articles, plurals and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and agreement, and divide long sentences where several trends are being reported.
