Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad contrast between rising appliance ownership and declining housework time, and you include several relevant figures. However, some key details are misreported or unclear: refrigerators began at about 2%, not as an established appliance at a higher level, and reached 90% by 1960; vacuum cleaners rose from 30% to 100%; washing-machine ownership fluctuated, rather than increasing constantly, and ended at about 75%. The housework figure fell from 50 hours to about 11, not from 50% to 30% and then 10%. The overview is relevant, but it overlooks the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner reaching full ownership and does not accurately summarise the washing-machine trend. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the main figures would strengthen coverage of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about appliances and a final paragraph about housework. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. Linking phrases such as “overall,” “meanwhile” and “with passage of time” also show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly where several appliance trends are compressed into one sentence. The phrase “refrigerator shows fluctuation” appears to refer to the washing machine, so the reference is unclear. Some transitions, including “on the one hand,” do not establish a clear contrast. Group the appliance trends more systematically and use explicit references to each series to make the organisation more coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ownership,” “constant increase,” “fluctuation” and “decreased,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “perportion,” “house work,” “inhouse hold” and “constant fell.” Spelling errors are frequent enough to distract the reader, including “washinh,” “paternen,” “refrigertor” and “avalibilty.” Some expressions are also imprecise: “were in use” does not clearly describe the percentage of households owning refrigerators, and “reached almost 30%” confuses hours with percentages. Use accurate trend vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, especially in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “refrigerator were in use” has a singular subject with a plural verb, while “washinh machine and refrigerator shows” does not maintain agreement or tense consistently. The opening sentence is difficult to parse because its clauses are not clearly formed, and “number of hours per week had constant fell” uses an incorrect verb pattern. Articles and plural forms are also often missing or inconsistent. Practise building accurate comparison sentences with a clear subject and verb, then combine them using subordinate clauses only when the basic structure is secure.
