The line graphs presented the changes in ownership of household electrical appliances and how many hours they spent doing housework chores during a period of 1920 to 2019.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main overall patterns: refrigerator and vacuum-cleaner ownership rose, while housework time fell. You also make a useful comparison between the sharp early rise in refrigerator ownership and the steadier increase for vacuum cleaners. However, some key details are missing or imprecise. The refrigerator began at about 2%, not 0%, and reached 90% by 1960 before attaining 100% in 1980. The washing-machine trend is described as fluctuating, but its values would clarify that it rose overall, with only a modest dip around 1980. The housework overview is relevant, though the later decline could be supported with figures such as 15 hours in 1980 and 11 in 2019. More precise reporting would make the selected features clearer and better developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for appliance ownership and housework time. This makes the main topics easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “In contrast” and “On the other hand” to signal comparisons. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “While,Vacuum cleaner kept rising consistently” has faulty punctuation and an awkward transition, and “Whereas vacuum cleaner was kept growing” is not a complete independent sentence. The overview also repeats the general idea of decline in housework without clearly distinguishing the steep early fall from the smaller later decrease. Grouping the appliance trends more systematically and linking each comparison to specific figures would improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “sudden increase,” “fluctuated,” “consistently,” and “gradually declined.” These choices help communicate the broad patterns, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural collocations and word choices. “The refrigerator dominated the households” is not a natural way to describe the data; “ownership of refrigerators became nearly universal” would be more precise. “Kept its pace fairly consistent” and “was kept growing” are also awkward. In addition, “housework chores” is redundant, and “saw and noticeable decline” contains a word-form error. Aim for precise trend language and natural collocations, while avoiding repeated general terms such as “declined” when more specific descriptions are available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast clauses with “While” and “Whereas,” and most of the message remains understandable. Some grammatical and punctuation errors nevertheless reduce accuracy. For example, “While,Vacuum cleaner kept rising consistently” has incorrect punctuation, while “Whereas vacuum cleaner was kept growing” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence. In “during a period of 1920 to 2019,” the time expression is not formed correctly; use “between 1920 and 2019.” There are also errors in “with it's share” and “saw and noticeable decline,” involving the possessive form and article. Review sentence boundaries, articles, and possessives, and check that each contrast clause is attached to a complete main clause.
