Student answer (Band 5.5)
The line graph illustrates the changes that occurred in the proportion of people in a country taking place from 1920 to 2019, in aspects of owing electrical appliances such as; washing machine, refrigerator, and washing machine. While the second graph, compares the time individuals spent on household chores like; laundry, meals preparation, and cleaning in the same year.

From 1920 to 2019, it remained an increase purchase of refrigerators with increased prevalence of modern techniques to keep fresh and frozen. The percentage remained consistently increasing till 1980, when it was installed in the homes of 90% of the total population, however, it remained constant over years. Similarly, the proportion owing a vaccum cleaner also reached 90% at the end of era. Furthermore, not a significant rise was marked in case of washing machine, that increased by only 30% till 2019.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad contrast between rising appliance ownership and falling housework time, and you include several relevant figures. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear: refrigerators reached about 90% in 1960 and 100% by 1980, not 90% in 1980; vacuum-cleaner ownership reached 100% by 2000 and remained there in 2019, rather than reaching 90% at the end. The washing-machine trend also fluctuated, rising from 40% to 70%, dipping to 65%, then reaching 75%, so describing only a 30% increase misses this pattern. The final comparison gives 1990 instead of 1920. The overview is relevant but imprecise, and the claim about appliance use is unsupported: the graph shows ownership, not use.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about appliance ownership, and a final contrast about housework hours. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Similarly,” and “In contrast” help signal relationships between points. However, the progression within the appliance paragraph is not always clear, and the final paragraph is very brief compared with the preceding discussion. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, particularly the opening sentence’s shift from appliance ownership to the second graph. Grouping the appliance trends more systematically and comparing their endpoints would make the organisation more effective; ensure each linking phrase accurately reflects the relationship between the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “prevalence,” “consistently increasing,” and “significant drop,” and the general subject is usually understandable. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “installments of refrigeration system” does not describe household ownership, and “owing a washing machines” is not an appropriate way to express the data. “Taking place” and “rate of hours at which the electrical appliances were used” also obscure the intended meaning. There are spelling errors such as “vaccum,” as well as repetition of “proportion” and “increased.” Use straightforward, accurate terms such as “ownership,” “households with,” and “hours spent on housework” before attempting more elaborate alternatives.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “While” and clauses beginning with “when” and “that.” The main ideas can generally be followed, but some sentence structures are faulty or incomplete in their construction. For example, “While the second graph, compares…” has an unnecessary comma separating the subject from its verb, and “it remained an increase purchase” does not form a grammatical clause. There are also problems with articles, number agreement, and tense or time references, as in “a washing machines” and “from 50 hours per week in 1990.” Punctuation around introductory and linking clauses is inconsistent. Aim for clearer sentence patterns and check subject–verb agreement, singular/plural forms, and the grammatical structure of each clause.
