Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad pattern that appliance ownership rose while housework hours fell, and you include some relevant figures, such as refrigerators reaching about 90% in 1960 and washing machines being around 72% in 2019. However, coverage is partial and some key details are missing: the hours decline from 50 to 11 per week is not quantified, and the refrigerator’s near-universal ownership by 1980 is omitted. There is also a significant factual error: refrigerators were at only about 2% in 1920, not already increasing to 90% in that year; 90% was reached in 1960. The overview is too general to summarise the main comparisons clearly. Select the major turning points and report them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and the contrast between rising appliance ownership and falling housework time gives it a relevant organising idea. However, progression is limited: the appliance figures are not presented in a consistent chronological sequence, and the housework graph is largely left until the final sentence. Linking words such as “Firstly,” “While,” and “also” are sometimes awkward or do not clearly show how the information relates. The repeated use of “the use of” also makes the account feel repetitive. Group the appliance trends together in chronological order, then describe the hours trend, using clear comparisons and references.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “ownership,” “gradually decreased,” and “reached,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the use electrical appliances is increased day by day” and “increased is equal to washing machine.” Repetition of “use” and “increased” also restricts the description of trends. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “qwnership,” “vaccum,” and “numbeer,” which reduce accuracy. Use precise terms for household ownership and movement in data, and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a percentage as “the proportion of households owning an appliance,” rather than its “use.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentences and contrasts, but grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors frequently affect clarity. Examples include “the use electrical appliances is increased,” which lacks a suitable verb pattern and uses an incorrect tense, and “the use of refrigerator in 1920 are little bit,” where the article, agreement, and sentence structure are faulty. The sentence beginning “While the number of hours…” is a fragment, as is the final “While the other graph show…” clause. Subject–verb agreement and articles are also problematic in “the other graph show” and “in household.” Build accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with correctly formed clauses; check tense, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries.
