Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The line graphs illustrate the inverse relation between the percentage of households (such as ; refrigerator , washing machine ,and vacuum cleaner) and number of hours of housework per week in one country from 1920 to 2019.Overall the percentage of households increases gradually with the passage of time while number of hours of housework faces a sharp decline.
In the begining , percentage of refrigerator was at the lowest point and washing machine had the highest percentage with 40% and mashing machine lied in between them with 30%.After that , in 1940 , their percentages became opproximately to one another with 50% to 60%.The percentages of refrigerator and vacuum cleaner rose steadily untill the maximum point of 100%.On the other hand , washing machine faced a slight fall followed by the graduall increase with its maimum percentage of 75%.
In 1920 , the number of hours of housework per week was 50 which declined with the passage of time and face a constant number of hours in between 1980 and 2000 that further reduced after that. The number of hours of hosework per week remaind about 10 at the end of the graph.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main overall pattern: appliance ownership generally rose while weekly housework declined, and you include relevant figures such as 40% for washing machines and 30% for vacuum cleaners in 1920, and about 11 hours at the end. The response also notes the washing-machine dip and the plateau in housework. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the 1940 appliance figures are not all “approximately” alike, since the refrigerator was about 55%, the vacuum cleaner 50%, and the washing machine 60%. The overview also overgeneralises by saying ownership increased gradually, although refrigerators reached 100% by 1980 and then levelled off. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the distinct trends would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview, a paragraph on appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework. This gives the reader a coherent route through the two graphs, and phrases such as “On the other hand” help signal contrast. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, particularly “After that” and “their percentages became approximately to one another,” where the reference of “their” is uncertain. The appliance paragraph also compresses several trends into a few sentences, making the sequence of comparisons difficult to follow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each appliance’s trend explicitly, while keeping the housework figures in a logical chronological sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some suitable trend vocabulary, including “declined,” “rose steadily,” “slight fall,” and “maximum point,” and the reader can generally understand the intended comparisons. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “faces a sharp decline,” “became approximately to one another,” and “lied in between them.” Spelling errors are also noticeable, including “begining,” “opproximately,” “untill,” and “maimum.” These slips reduce precision in a task where accurate descriptions of change are important. Build a reliable set of collocations for describing graphs, and check spelling carefully; prefer direct expressions such as “stood at,” “increased to,” and “remained stable.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including a contrastive construction beginning “On the other hand” and a relative clause in the introduction. The main trends remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “while number of hours” needs an article, and “which declined … and face a constant number” shifts tense and has faulty verb agreement. The sentence beginning “In the begining” also lacks clear grammatical structure around the appliance comparisons. Punctuation spacing is inconsistent, with spaces before commas and no space after the full stop in the opening. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and article use, and proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
