Student answer (Band 6.5)
The given line graphs illustrate the percentage of households with electrical appliances and the number of hours of housework per week, per household from 1920 to 2019. Noticeably, the ownership of all three electrical appliances in household experienced a significant growth throughout the period.

It again slightly increased to 100% by 1980 and remained stable till 2019. Similarly, only 30% of household had a vacuum clearner in 1920, which significantly rose to 90% in 1980. It again went up slightly to 100% in 2000 and remained stable till 2019. In 1920, the highest number of household had the washing machine, at 40% and increased to 70% by 1960. After that the number slightly declined to 65% in 1980 before experience to reach a peak at 75% in 2019.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You cover both charts and provide a clear overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. The response also selects useful comparisons, including the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner reaching full household ownership and the washing-machine figure dipping before rising again. However, several figures are inaccurate: refrigerators were at about 2% in 1920, not absent, and reached about 55% in 1940; the stated jump to 90% by 1960 skips this important stage. Housework fell to about 11 hours in 2019, rather than 10. These errors do not obscure the main trends, but more precise reporting of key stages and comparisons would make the account more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The response is organised in a clear sequence: an introduction and overview, a paragraph describing appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Similarly,” “After that,” and “Overall” help signal comparisons and summary. The appliance paragraph is somewhat dense, however, and the housework chart receives only one sentence, so the two sets of information are not developed as evenly as they could be. Some transitions also connect details without clearly distinguishing the years being compared. Grouping the appliance trends more deliberately and giving the housework decline a little more detail would strengthen the balance and flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “percentage,” “remained stable,” “declined,” and “peak,” which helps describe trends and changes. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “in the context of,” although this is less natural than a direct transition such as “Regarding housework.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “vacuum clearner,” “in household numbers,” and “experienced steady declined” reduce precision. “Significantly” is repeated for several changes, including movements that are not especially large, so varying the language and matching it to the scale of change would improve control. Check spelling and use natural collocations such as “households owned” or “hours were spent.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including relative clauses such as “which significantly rose to 90%” and time clauses such as “before … in 1980.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “refrigerator was not in used … but 1920” has problems with articles, verb form, and sentence construction; “the number slightly declined … before experience to reach” also has an incorrect verb form. Agreement and number are inconsistent in phrases such as “the highest number of household had,” while “50 hours were spend” uses the wrong passive participle. More accurate articles, plurals, and verb forms, alongside careful proofreading, would make the varied sentence structures more reliable.
