Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Percentage of households with electrical appliances (1920-2019)
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The line graph provided information about the changes of ownership of electrical appliance and also the amount of time spent doing households in one country between 1920 and 2019.
Overall, the graph shows that the percentage of households with refrigerator is rapidly increase.
another shows that the percentage of households with vacuum cleaner also increase gradually. As far as the percentage of households with washing machine is also increase slowly. Another line graph shows that the number of hours per week is decreasing down.
The detailed view of the chart shows that the amount of households of refrigerator is increase from 0 to 55% in the year 1940 and the also show a rapid increase from from 55% to 90% in the year 1960 and show the gradually increase from 90% to 100% . Therefore the amount of households of vacuum cleaner is increase gradually from 30% to 50% in the year 1940 and also shows the straight increase from 50% to 70% in the year 1960 and also the rapid increase from 70% to 90% in the year 1980 and show the same increase from 90% to 100% in the year 2000 to 2019 . therefore the amount of households of washing machine is increase slowly from 40% to 60% in the year 1940 and also shows the low increase from 60% to 70% in the year 1960 . So on there is a small decrease in the percentage and then it is increase from 655 to 70% and then a little increase in year 2000 and 2019 .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main overall trends: refrigerator and vacuum-cleaner ownership rose, while weekly housework hours fell. You also include several relevant figures, such as refrigerators reaching 90% in 1960 and vacuum cleaners rising from 70% to 90% by 1980. However, the overview is repetitive and does not clearly bring the charts together; the substantial fall in housework hours is mentioned without any figures or comparison. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: refrigerator ownership starts at about 2%, not 0%, and the washing-machine figure “655” is evidently a misreporting of 65%. The response also gives little account of the housework series. A clearer overview and more accurate selection of key comparisons would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to a paragraph of details, and the appliance trends are generally presented in a recognisable order. However, progression is weakened by repeated sentence openings such as “also shows” and “therefore,” and the overview repeats the same pattern for each appliance rather than grouping the main comparisons. The housework trend is not developed alongside the appliance data. Some links are awkward or unclear, including “So on” and “Another line graph shows,” while the long final paragraph makes it difficult to distinguish the separate series. Use clearer paragraphing and organise details by major trend, with more precise linking between comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “gradually,” “decrease,” and “increase,” so the reader can identify the general trends. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated frequently, especially “increase” and “shows.” Some collocations and word choices are unnatural, such as “amount of households,” “doing households,” and “straight increase”; these reduce precision in a data report. “Rapidly increase” is also not an appropriate description of the full refrigerator trend, which levels off at 100%. Aim for accurate trend language and vary it with terms such as “ownership,” “rose,” “climbed,” “fell,” and “levelled off.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences linked with “and” and “therefore,” but the longer constructions are often difficult to control. Verb-form errors occur repeatedly: for example, “the percentage … is rapidly increase” should be “increased rapidly,” and “the amount … is increase” should be “the proportion … increased.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “the percentage of households with refrigerator,” while the opening overview contains a sentence fragment beginning “another shows.” These errors sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons and separating each trend into complete sentences; then add more varied structures while maintaining control.
