Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You cover all four series and give a clear overview of the broad pattern: appliance ownership generally rose, while housework time fell. Most figures are reported accurately, including the refrigerator reaching 100% by 1980 and remaining there, and the vacuum cleaner reaching full ownership by 2000. There are, however, two notable data inaccuracies: washing-machine ownership fell to about 65% in 1980, not 55%, and housework was about 35 hours in 1940, not 45. The overview could also identify the contrast more precisely: refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached saturation, whereas washing-machine ownership rose more gradually and fluctuated. Correcting these details and sharpening the overview would make the account more complete and precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a broad overview, separate descriptions of the three appliances, and a final paragraph on housework. This makes the main information easy to locate. The sequence within each appliance description is generally chronological, and words such as “then,” “after that,” and “in the end” help signal changes. However, the repeated use of “then” makes the progression somewhat mechanical, and the final “But” creates an unnecessary contrast after the overview has already established the relationship. Some long sentences, especially the washing-machine account, contain many stages joined by commas, which weakens clarity. Grouping the appliance trends more selectively and varying linking devices would create smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “sharp increase,” “steady increasing,” and “reached.” The meaning is generally clear, and you attempt to describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “property of electrical devices,” “operationg time,” and “a sudden drop was happened.” Spelling errors, including “significantlly,” “continous,” and “weak” for “week,” also reduce precision. Some phrases are repeated, particularly “the percentage” and “then.” Aim for standard chart language such as “ownership,” “the figure rose,” and “the number of hours fell,” and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences that connect several time points, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur in verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For example, “the number of hours … were decreased” should use a singular subject and a suitable verb form, while “a sudden drop was happened” has an incorrect passive construction. In “the number of hours … was fell,” the verb form is also faulty. Long comma-linked sentences, particularly the washing-machine description, need clearer punctuation or division into shorter sentences. More accurate control of past-tense reporting and sentence boundaries, alongside your existing attempts at complex structures, would improve clarity.
