Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and identify the main overall contrast: appliance ownership generally rose while weekly housework time fell. You also include several relevant figures, such as washing machines at 40% initially and 75% in 2019, and refrigerators reaching 100%. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. The overview says washing machines rose highest, although refrigerators and vacuum cleaners both reached 100%, and the washing-machine figure dipped to about 65% in 1980 before recovering. The housework figure ends at about 11 hours, rather than 10. The description of the appliance trends is also uneven: the refrigerator’s rapid early rise and the vacuum cleaner’s steady growth could be compared more clearly. A more precise overview and fuller selection of key stages would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, separate detail paragraphs and a concluding statement. This gives the reader a coherent overall route through the information. Some linking is effective, particularly “On the other hand” and “Meanwhile,” but connections are occasionally mechanical or unclear. For example, “Moreover” introduces another washing-machine point rather than a clearly contrasting or additional feature, and the final “In conclusion” repeats the overview instead of adding useful comparison. The paragraph about appliances also moves between refrigerator, vacuum cleaner and washing-machine data without a consistent order. Grouping the appliance trends together in a clear sequence, then describing housework, and using references such as “by contrast” only where needed would make progression smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “percentage,” “appliances,” and “decreased,” so the main trends are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “significantly” and “dramatic change.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for chart reporting: “the most famous electric appliances” should describe the most common or widely owned appliance, while “a decent increase” and “a good percentage” are imprecise. “The time frame of housework” does not clearly express hours spent on housework, and “rose up” is an awkward collocation. Spelling errors such as “refridgerator” and “cloths” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, neutral trend language and check spelling, especially for key chart terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “the amount of household … gradually increasing” needs a complete clause, such as “the proportion of households … gradually increased.” In “the amount of hour … have a decent decreased,” the singular/plural forms and verb structure do not agree. “The most famous electric appliances was” also has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “washing machine percentage rose up highest” is not formed as a clear comparison. These issues sometimes make relationships between figures less precise. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete clauses, while retaining the range of sentence patterns you are attempting.
