Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and give a relevant overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework fell. Several key figures are reported accurately, including vacuum-cleaner ownership at about 30% in 1920 and the refrigerator reaching 100% by 1980. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the refrigerator was about 2% in 1920, not 5%, and around 55% in 1940, rather than 50%. The final comparison also says the washing machine was used less than the other appliances, although it reached 75% in 2019. The housework figures are expressed as percentages instead of hours, and the intermediate trend is only briefly described. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the washing-machine dip and recovery would strengthen coverage.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview, details and a concluding sentence. The main trends are generally easy to identify, and time markers such as “In 1920” and “in 2019” help orient the reader. However, the long appliance paragraph combines several series and years in one sentence, making comparisons difficult to follow. Linking phrases such as “where” and “where the usage” are used awkwardly, and the conclusion repeats the overview rather than adding a clear final comparison. Organise the details into separate paragraphs—for example, one for appliance ownership and one for housework—and use clearer transitions to show changes over time.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “dramatic growth,” “decreased” and “per week,” so the reader can understand the general subject and trends. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “used widely” and “used at a wide range” do not naturally describe household ownership, while “most using electrical appliance” is not idiomatic. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “applances,” “vaccum,” “incresed” and “steadly.” These reduce precision and sometimes make the phrasing harder to interpret. Aim for accurate chart language such as “the proportion of households owning…” and “the figure rose/fell,” and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast in the overview and a time clause beginning “where in 1940.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The chart show” needs subject–verb agreement, and “30% households have” needs an article and a suitable past-tense form. The sentence beginning “In 1920…” runs on through several changes, with unclear clause connections and inconsistent tense. “Number of hours per week, decreased” also has an unnecessary comma and lacks a determiner. Use past tense consistently for the historical data, check articles and agreement, and divide long sentences into shorter, controlled comparisons.
