Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad contrast that appliance ownership increased while housework time fell, and you include some relevant figures, such as vacuum-cleaner ownership rising from 30% to 100%. However, the account only partially covers the data: washing machines are not described, and the refrigerator trend is said to remain constant only until 2000, omitting its continued 100% level in 2019. There are also important inaccuracies: housework fell from 50 to 20 hours by 1960, not by 1980, and then declined to 11 by 2019 rather than remaining constant. The overview is unclear and the final claim that appliances were “same” in 1940 is unsupported. Select the main trends accurately and compare the series directly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, comments on appliances, a statement about housework, and a concluding sentence. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In the chart” signal transitions. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the overview repeats the introduction rather than summarising the main trends, and the final “conclusion” introduces an unclear comparison instead of consolidating the report. Some links between ideas are awkward, particularly “after 1980 it remains constant untill 2000,” which leaves the later period unaddressed. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and key details, and organise comparisons by trend or time period so each point follows logically.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “sharp increase,” “steadily growth,” “usage,” and “remains constant,” showing an attempt to describe trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “the money has been spent on households,” “highest households,” and “the electrical appliances were same.” Spelling errors, including “refrigrator,” “housholds,” and “untill,” also reduce precision. Choose vocabulary that names the measure accurately: ownership or the percentage of households, rather than money spent. Practise standard trend phrases such as “rose steadily,” “reached 100%,” and “levelled off,” and check spelling before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences and use past-tense reporting, but the range of structures is limited and errors occur frequently enough to make several statements difficult to interpret. For example, “The charts under demonstrate a country electrical appliances” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the both charts illustrates” has article and subject–verb agreement problems. In “The number of house work … decreased from 50% to 20% in the year of 1980,” the sentence structure and time reference are faulty, and the percentage sign is grammatically inappropriate for hours. Build clearer sentences with a subject, verb, and accurate comparison, and check agreement, articles, prepositions, and punctuation. A few well-controlled complex sentences would also improve range.
