Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and give a relevant overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while time spent on housework fell. Several key figures are reported accurately, including washing machines at 40% initially, vacuum cleaners reaching full ownership, and housework declining from 50 hours to about 11. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate. Washing-machine ownership reached 60% in 1940, not 1960, and the final figure was about 75%, rather than simply “below 80%.” The refrigerator began at about 2%, not 0%. Most importantly, the housework figures are hours per week, not percentages or numbers of people; the response calls 50 “50%” and says people were busy. Include the refrigerator’s 1980 saturation and the washing-machine dip more precisely to develop the comparison.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall shape: an introduction, a summary of the main trends, and separate discussion of appliance ownership and housework. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In addition,” and “In contrast” help signal relationships between points. However, some connections are awkward or mechanical, particularly “after that slightly fell … and again raised,” and “in while” does not clearly introduce the refrigerator comparison. The appliance paragraph also combines three series in a long sequence, making the changes harder to compare. Organise the details by grouping the refrigerator and vacuum cleaner, which both reached 100%, and then describe the washing-machine fluctuation. Clearer transitions between years and trends would improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “electrical appliances,” “upward trend,” “dramatically increased,” and “decreased throughout the period.” These choices show an adequate range for describing the charts. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “uses of electrical appliances,” “relying on machine,” and “engaged with housework.” “Uses” also suggests appliance use rather than household ownership, which is what the chart measures. Spelling errors, including “vaccume,” “prepering,” and “finall,” reduce precision. Choose standard chart language such as “ownership,” “the proportion of households,” and “hours spent on housework.” More accurate vocabulary would make the comparisons clearer without requiring more elaborate wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. For example, the overview contrasts appliance ownership with housework, and the detail paragraph uses clauses to describe changes over time. Some grammatical errors remain, however. The opening sentence needs a more accurate structure and punctuation: “illustrate, percentage” should be “illustrate the percentage,” and the comma after “illustrate” is unnecessary. In “the trend of doing housework decrease,” the verb should agree with the singular subject and use past tense (“decreased”). Several clauses lack clear tense or structure, as in “washing machine started 40% … followed to 60%.” Use forms such as “stood at 40%” and “rose to 60%.” These corrections would improve control while retaining your range of sentence patterns.
