Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the general subject and include some relevant figures, such as washing machines at 40% and vacuum cleaners at 30% in 1920, and refrigerators reaching 90% in 1960. However, the overview is inaccurate: refrigerators did not remain the highest throughout, and washing-machine ownership did not simply fall; it rose overall, with a temporary dip. The 1940 figures are presented unclearly, and the second chart showing housework hours is not reported at all. The response also contains only 79 words, below the required 150, so several key features and comparisons are missing. To improve, give a clear overview of both charts and select accurate figures to support it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic paragraph structure, with an opening, an attempted overview and a paragraph of figures. This gives the reader some sense of the response’s purpose. However, progression is difficult to follow because the figures are not consistently linked to their years: “70 percentage,55 percentage, and 50 percentage In 1940” does not make clear which appliance each number describes. The final paragraph also stops without covering the later years fully or addressing housework hours. Linking words such as “Whereas” and “In 1980 to 2000” are used, but the relationships they signal are sometimes unclear. Organise the body by chart or time period, and use complete, clearly connected comparisons.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “reached,” “remained stable” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, which makes parts of the data difficult to interpret. For example, “high trend” is not a natural way to describe the highest ownership level, and “refrigerator reached rapidly” is an unclear collocation. There are also spelling errors in “applinaces” and “vaccum,” and “during housework” does not express the intended meaning naturally. Build a more precise range for describing trends, proportions and household work, and check spelling and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and a contrast, for example, “Overall, in all three electrical appliances refrigerator shows the high trend than others.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, and this sometimes obscures the comparisons. “70 percentage,55 percentage, and 50 percentage In 1940” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence, while “In 1980 to 2000” does not form a correct time expression. Articles and sentence punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “washing machine was 40%” and the run-together punctuation around “100 percentage .Vaccum.” Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent past-tense forms to report the historical data.
