Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad pattern that appliance ownership generally rose while housework time fell, and you include figures for several years. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: refrigerators did not remain the highest throughout, since washing machines were more common than refrigerators in 1920. The claim that washing-machine ownership fell “as compared [with] other appliances” is also misleading; it dipped from 70% to 65% in 1980, then rose to 75% by 2019. Some figures and units are misreported: housework is measured in hours, not percentages, and the final value is about 11 hours. The response is 132 words, below the 150-word minimum. Add a clear overview and report the main trends accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview, and separate discussion of appliance ownership and housework. This gives the reader some sense of how the information is grouped. However, progression within the appliance paragraph is difficult to follow: the sentence “70 percentage,55 percentage, and 50 percentage In 1940” has no clear subject or relationship to the preceding figures. Connectors such as “Whereas,” “whereas,” and “While” are used mechanically or without a complete, well-linked sentence. The final paragraph also shifts abruptly to housework. Use one paragraph for the overview and organise the details chronologically, with clear comparisons and complete sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “reached,” “remained stable,” “decreased,” and “lowest level,” so the main trends can often be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the data harder to interpret. For example, “high trend” is not a natural way to describe the highest ownership, and “amount of time during housework” is unclear. “70 percentage” should be expressed as “70%” or “70 per cent,” while “housework hours” should not be described as a “percentage” or “ratio.” There are also spelling errors such as “applinaces” and “vaccum.” Use precise terms such as “ownership,” “proportion,” and “hours per week,” and check spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast with “Whereas” and a time clause beginning “before reaching.” However, errors are frequent, and some sentences are incomplete or difficult to parse. “70 percentage,55 percentage, and 50 percentage In 1940” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence, while “washing machine percentage decreased 70% to 65%” lacks the grammatical pattern “decreased from … to …”. In “In 1980, housework hours falling 15 percentage,” the verb form is incorrect; use “fell to 15 hours.” Articles and sentence punctuation also need attention, as in “refrigerator shows the high trend.” Practise complete sentences with accurate past-tense verbs and consistent punctuation.
