Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover both charts and identify the main broad patterns: appliance ownership generally rises, while weekly housework falls. You also include useful comparisons, such as vacuum cleaners and washing machines both reaching 70% in 1960. However, some figures and descriptions are inaccurate or unclear: refrigerators were at about 2% in 1920, not 0%, and reached 100% by 1980, rather than only by 2000. The washing-machine figure fell from 70% to 65% between 1960 and 1980, a five-point decline, not nine. Housework was about 11 hours in 2019, so “down to 10” is an approximation. A clearer overview and more precise reporting of key stages would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing appliance ownership and housework. This helps the reader follow the two topics, and linking words such as “However” and “But” show attempts to connect ideas. At times, though, progression is weakened by unclear or incomplete sentences, especially the overview: “Overall, The percentage of households with electrical appliances between 1920 to 2019.” Some transitions are also mechanical, and the appliance details move between machines without a consistent comparison. Organise the body by grouping the appliance trends together and then describing housework, using clear topic sentences and links that show contrast or change over time.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “households,” “increase,” and “decrease,” so the reader can generally understand the subject. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “owenership,” “appliancess,” “flactuate,” “refrigeator,” and “begain.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “it has a high increase in the decade” and “0 people who use it”; the chart reports household percentages, not people. Aim for accurate trend language and collocations, for example “ownership rose sharply” or “the proportion of households with refrigerators.” Proofreading spelling and choosing chart-specific terms will improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including time clauses and contrasts, and the main message is usually understandable. However, some sentence structures are incomplete or faulty, as in “Overall, The percentage of households with electrical appliances between 1920 to 2019,” which has no main verb. Verb forms and agreement also need attention: “it has been rose” should use a correct past form, and “both vacuum and washing machine has 70%” does not agree with its plural subject or express the figure naturally. Articles, prepositions, and punctuation are inconsistent, too. Practise complete overview sentences and use past simple forms for the historical data, while checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
