Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both charts and give a clear overview: appliance ownership generally rose, while housework time declined. The appliance details are mostly well selected, including the refrigerator’s rise from about 2% to full ownership and the washing machine’s dip around 1980. However, there is a factual error: refrigerator ownership reached about 55% in 1940, not 1920. The final comparison of housework is also underdeveloped: you report 50 hours in 1920 and 10 in 2019, whereas the chart shows about 11 hours in 2019, and the intermediate decline to 15 hours by 1980 is omitted. More accurate reporting and a fuller account of this trend would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and detail paragraphs that group appliance trends before turning to housework. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Looking at the details,” and “However” help readers follow the comparisons. The progression is generally clear, though the housework figure is compressed into a single sentence and would benefit from being integrated more fully with the other trends. Some connections between figures could also be made more explicit—for example, contrasting the refrigerator’s rapid rise with the steadier increase in vacuum-cleaner ownership. This would build on the sound organisation and make the comparisons more cohesive and purposeful.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “upward trend,” “downward trend,” “increased,” “remained constant,” and “fluctuation.” These choices communicate the main patterns, and some variation in wording avoids excessive repetition. A few expressions are imprecise or awkward, however: “the percentage of refrigerator” and “refrigerator percentage” would be more naturally expressed as “the proportion of households owning a refrigerator.” “In term of” and “initiall” also show weaknesses in word form and spelling. Aim for accurate collocations and consistent phrasing when describing ownership and household time; this will make the report sound more natural and precise while retaining its clear meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including the contrast in “However, the percentage of washing machine showed some fluctuation…” and the overview’s paired trends. Meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “The proportion grew considerably to around 55% in 1920” has an incorrect year, and “reached at 100%” uses an unnecessary preposition. The final sentence, “In term of number of hours spent per week in households were 50 hours,” lacks a clear grammatical subject and has an awkward clause structure. Articles and plural forms also need attention in phrases such as “percentage of refrigerator.” Check sentence structure and verb patterns, especially when introducing a figure, to improve accuracy.
