Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the broad trends: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework declined. The overview also correctly notes that refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reached full household coverage by the end. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. In 1920, refrigerator ownership was very low, not “nothing,” and washing machines and vacuum cleaners were about 40% and 30%, rather than almost the same at 40% to 50%. Housework is measured in hours, not percentages, and it fell to about 11 hours, not “10%.” The response covers both graphs, but gives limited detail about the intermediate changes, such as the refrigerator reaching 100% by 1980 and washing-machine ownership dipping before rising again. A more precise overview and selected comparisons would strengthen coverage.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for the two graphs. This helps the reader identify the main topics. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and linking is repetitive, particularly through “whereas,” “but,” and “on other hand.” The overview combines appliance ownership with housework but does not clearly distinguish the two measures. Some references are also vague: “after many years” does not specify a period, and “it” in the final paragraph could refer to either housework or the number of hours. Organise the details chronologically and use clearer links and references—for example, “By 1980” and “the weekly figure”—to make comparisons easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “ownership,” “usage,” “decreased,” and “remained,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several choices are imprecise or unnatural for describing data. “Electrical equipments” is not the appropriate form; use “electrical appliances.” “The usage … is so high” is vague, while “housework is good enough” does not communicate a meaningful comparison. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “illustarte,” “almsot,” “eraly,” and “wich,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for precise trend language such as “rose,” “levelled off,” and “declined,” and use “ownership” or “the proportion of households” consistently rather than repeating “usage.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including contrasts with “whereas” and “on other hand,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, control is uneven. The opening sentence runs directly into the next without appropriate sentence spacing or punctuation, and several clauses are joined awkwardly: “but after many years the usage … is so high and it stand as 100%.” There are errors in tense and agreement, as in “remain 100%,” “it reamined,” and “it stand,” where past-tense forms are needed for the historical data. The phrase “from 1920 to 1940 hours … were 50 to 35%” also has an unclear grammatical relationship between the time period and the figures. Use complete, clearly punctuated sentences and check verb forms and agreement.
