Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the two broad patterns: appliance ownership generally increased, while weekly housework time fell. You also include some relevant figures, such as washing machines at 40% and vacuum cleaners at 30% in 1920, and the 50 hours of housework at the start. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: washing machines did not rise steadily, since ownership dipped from 70% in 1960 to 65% in 1980, and housework time is not an appliance trend. The account also omits key endpoints and comparisons, including refrigerators and vacuum cleaners reaching 100%, and housework declining to 11 hours in 2019. Develop a clearer overview and report the main changes across the full period more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an opening, an overview, and body paragraphs, and it attempts to group appliance ownership separately from housework. This gives the reader some basic organisation. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow, particularly in “In 1960 to 2019 used of washing machine slightly deminish whereas the others year they flactuated.” The sequence of years and comparisons is not clearly expressed, and connectors such as “Moreover,” “Besides,” and “In contrast” do not always show the relationship between the information that follows. The final paragraph is very brief and does not complete the comparison. Organise the body chronologically or by clear trends, and use linking phrases only where they accurately signal a contrast or continuation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “proportion,” “trend,” “grew,” and “fell dramatically,” so the reader can recognise the intended topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report difficult to understand, for example “uses of electrical appliances,” “a long time per work,” and “the highest proportion” for hours. Spelling errors such as “illustrats,” “parcentage,” “vacume,” and “deminish” are also noticeable. Aim for precise language for describing data: distinguish ownership percentages from hours, and use standard expressions such as “the proportion of households owning…” and “hours spent on housework.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your meaning clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a time clause beginning “In 1920.” However, the range is limited, and frequent errors in sentence structure and verb forms make several statements hard to interpret. For example, “washing machine started to uses at 40%” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “In 1960 to 2019 used of washing machine slightly deminish” lacks a clear subject and has an unsuitable tense. Articles and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “washing machine follow the upward tren.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when describing the historical data.
