Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You cover both graphs and identify the main broad patterns: appliance ownership generally rose, while weekly housework hours fell. The refrigerator’s rise and eventual saturation, and the decline in housework from 50 to about 11 hours, are relevant features. However, several figures and comparisons are inaccurate: the refrigerator reached 100% in 1980, not 1960; washing-machine ownership was about 75% in 2019, not 65%; and vacuum-cleaner ownership began at 30%, not 40%. The overview also says the refrigerator showed the greatest “time,” which does not clearly describe its ownership trend. Include the washing machine’s dip around 1980 and distinguish the appliances’ different paths more precisely to make the key features clearer and more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph about appliance ownership, and a final paragraph on housework hours. This gives the reader a generally coherent route through the information. You also use signposts such as “Overall,” “In terms of,” and “on the other hand.” However, some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “Turning back to number of weekly work hours,” and the appliance paragraph combines several trends in a way that makes comparisons harder to follow. The overview’s reference to “using for refrigerator” also obscures the intended point. To strengthen progression, group the appliance trends in a consistent order and use clear comparisons between their starting points, changes, and final levels.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “significant,” “noticeable growth,” “decline,” and “remained unchanged,” and the reader can generally understand the trends you describe. There are also attempts to vary phrasing rather than repeat “increase” throughout. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing charts: “using for refrigerator,” “greatest growth,” and “household work with electrical appliances” do not express the intended meanings clearly. “Constant decline” is also imprecise because housework hours levelled off between 1980 and 2000 before falling again. Aim for standard collocations such as “ownership of refrigerators rose” and “hours spent on housework decreased,” and check spelling, including “until.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of sentence forms, including a relative clause in “The line graphs, which show…” and longer comparisons using “while” and “on the other hand.” These attempts show some range, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, some grammatical errors affect clarity. The opening is a sentence fragment because it has no main clause; “it follow a constant declined” has incorrect verb form and tense; and “reaching at 100%” uses an incorrect construction. There are also missing articles or prepositions in phrases such as “number of weekly work hours,” alongside punctuation problems, including the missing space after the full stop in “1980.Vacuum.” Build complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and proofread spacing and punctuation.
