Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify the topic and make an attempt to describe trends, including the refrigerator’s sharp rise and the vacuum cleaner’s increase. However, the response covers only part of the task: the second graph about weekly housework hours is not reported, and the final paragraph is unfinished (“on another hand, The refrigerator”). The overview is also inaccurate: the vacuum cleaner was not highest throughout, and washing machines were not consistently the lowest; by 2019, refrigerators and vacuum cleaners were both at 100%, while washing machines were at about 75%. Some figures are misread, such as refrigerators starting at 0% rather than about 2%. The response is also 26 words below the required minimum. Include both graphs, give a precise overview, and select key comparisons accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an opening, an overview, and a paragraph beginning “To begin with.” Time references such as “from 1920 to 1960” also help signal sequence. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the discussion jumps between appliances and periods without a clear comparison, and the final sentence is incomplete. Linking phrases such as “on another hand” do not lead into a developed point, while repeated “to begin with” and “during the period” constructions make the flow mechanical. Group the information into a clear overview and focused detail paragraphs, and use transitions to show comparisons or changes rather than simply introducing another sentence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “rose sharply,” “remained same,” and “period,” so the reader can recognise the intended subject and trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or spellings make the description less clear, including repeated misspellings of “percentage,” “proporation,” and “refrigertor.” Phrases such as “the proportion of utilized was increased” and “the percent shows that unstabled” are not natural or precise ways to describe chart data. Use standard terms such as “share of households,” “ownership,” and “levelled off,” and check spelling carefully. More accurate vocabulary would also help distinguish a steady rise from a sharp increase or a plateau.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with time clauses, for example, “between 1980 to 2019 was remained same.” This shows an effort to describe changes across periods, but the longer constructions are often faulty and can make relationships between events unclear. There are recurring problems with subject–verb agreement and verb forms, as in “The line graphs demonstrates” and “refrigerator was starts.” Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, and several clauses are joined without clear punctuation. Practise building accurate sentences with a subject and verb, such as “Refrigerator ownership rose sharply from 1920 to 1960, then remained stable.” Use a wider range only when the basic structure is controlled.
